At Eglantine, we are delighted to offer our pupils a variety of additional sports and activities throughout the school year. These opportunities allow children to develop new skills, build confidence, stay active and enjoy learning beyond the classroom.

Yoga – All classes take part in yoga and mindfulness sessions, giving children the opportunity to relax, improve their focus and learn techniques to support their wellbeing.

Irish dancing – Pupils from 1st to 4th class enjoy Irish dancing lessons, where they develop their coordination, rhythm and dancing skills while celebrating our Irish culture and traditions.

Rinka – Our younger pupils in Infants to 1st class take part in Rinka, an enjoyable programme that encourages movement, creativity, teamwork and physical development through fun activities.

Swimming lessons – Children from 2nd to 5th class also participate in swimming lessons, helping them to develop their swimming ability, water confidence and essential water safety skills.

Alongside these activities, Eglantine pupils have opportunities to represent the school in a variety of sporting competitions. We participate in the Sciath na Scol football and camogie competitions, giving pupils the chance to develop their teamwork, sportsmanship and school spirit. Our pupils also take part in Cork City Sports and FAI soccer blitz.

We are very grateful to the coaches and teachers who work with our pupils and help make these activities possible. These extra opportunities play an important role in promoting physical health, wellbeing, confidence and a love of sport and activity among the children of Eglantine.
