Eglantine Girls in Douglas Village
The girls from Eglantine NS were busy today as they performed a little show in Douglas Village Shopping Centre.
Pupils from Ms Ryan’s 2nd class sang loud and proud to support our Irish rugby team in France, as they sang with pride, “Ireland’s Call”.
Belle from 6th class also danced for the lucky passing shoppers! Belle came 1st in Ireland in the Feis.
The girls were there to spread the word, about Eglantine’s Open Night on Thursday 5th October from 7pm to 8.30pm
Swimming, dance, tennis camogie , Gaelic football are some of the sports available in the school. Plus the kids have a lovely playground, where they love climbing the monkey bars!
Pupils in 5th and 6th class recently started learning French , under the new Languages programme.
Healthy eating in Eglantine is promoted in the best way possible- by growing and cooking the food yourself! They have a school garden where vegetables are grown , and then soups, quiches and cakes are made during cookery lessons.
In Eglantine, “Sherpa Kids” offers an excellent before, and after- school , care programme , which helps parents so much.
The school is excited to launch a new Pieta Amber Flag initiative.
This project helps create a healthy, inclusive environment that supports mental wellbeing of students and staff. Such a positive move , after the stresses of Covid over the last few years.
It’s good to have your say, and in Eglantine, that’s exactly what happens. There is a Student Council where pupil reps speak up and help resolve any difficulties their fellow students are having.
There’s a real love of music in Eglantine- every year , they write their own songs and perform them in “Schoolovision” .
A fun event for the whole school!
Eglantine also has a small orchestra and a choir. So there’s something there for everyone.
So call into Eglantine for a cuppa and a chat next Thursday .
Hope to see you there!
